Case Study 1: Spam attack

Client

A 400 user nationwide automotive insurance company

Issue

The site experienced very high spamming, slowing down the email system to an unusable level.

Action

Immediate remote help as provided to tighten up the mail server security and update the mail filtering software. Advice was also provided on how to deal with blacklisting. Spamming continued from a different address and the further remote investigation found the likely source to be an internal viruses. We helped devise a plan of action and provide input on the companies anti virus policy to help fast track and complete roll out with the aid of the on site staff.

Result

Following these actions the client was in a much more secure state against internal virus and external mail threats for the future.

Case Study 2: Merger

Client

A 50 user plus nationwide solicitor firm with three sites in West London and Hertfordshire was undergoing expansion by merging and acquiring a leading competitor under a new brand with an additional 5 sites.

Issue

With a lack of local IT there was knowledge gap in how to implement a merged solution.

Action

On the IT side we helped reduce the planning headaches and with the use of specialist consultants achieved a far smoother merger of the new corporate entity now with three times the number of staff and more than double the IT requirement with the use of standardised preparation checklists and solid project management and communication to mediate and address needs on all sides.

Result

A smooth transition and happy customers with and operational cost benefits through consolidated mail and file share facilities.

Case Study 3: IT Review

Client

A 600 user leisure resort company with 8 sites in 4 countries

Issue

The in house IT team of 8 severely stretched on workload required help to generally review their IT strategy.

Action

The report was reviewed by IT and senior management and as a result we were taken on as a management consultancy company for 12 months. We assisted the IT team as a backup resource and project management to help

  • Highlight strategic cost saving IT targets in “Management Speak”

Case Study 4: Payment Call Centre

Client

An 80 user Holdings Company based in east London

Issue

Payment collection was a significant issue for the company with a small staff team chasing payment collections in several European countries and languages, the small team dealt with a high volume of calls each month.

Action

We helped to deliver and a phone keypad controlled payment system which callers could dial using a local number to securely make credit card payments with.

Result

Payments could be collected out of office hours; call load was reduced into the call centre payment collections were up during busy periods and happy clients.

Case Study 5: Hosted Online Insurance Platform

Client

A global insurance brand top of their field in several countries

Issue

A platform was required from which to securely deliver an online insurance portal to reach thousands of users across the globe maintaining 24x7 access in several time zones.

Additionally disaster recovery facilities were required to get the system back online in a matter of hours with minimal data loss.

Action

We reviewed a number of suppliers on behalf of the client and specified a suitable platform exceeding working capacity. Project management was controlled centrally and every technical detail qualified, specified, developed, tested and delivered.

To address the second requirement a second replica site was delivered which mirrored database information in real time delivering minimal business disruption capability.

Result

The platform is now used to manage hundreds of millions of pounds worth of policy business and has gone live in over 15 countries and languages.

Case Study 6: Network upgrade

Client

A small but successful building entry and security services provider based in Essex.

Issue

The site’s in house IT personnel had moved a while ago and users had been coping with a network which was in severe need of attention and update

Action

A virtual server platform was delivered on new hardware and automated backup. Integration of the “cloud box” solution was done in a day with full documentation handed over to the client on the solution provided.

Result

Users are now productive and no longer reliant on a network over 7 years out of date. Documentation and instruction on the system provided them with a better understanding and reassurance that they would not be left high and dry and where and how to deal with their day to day issues.

Case Study 7: Supporting Support!

Client

A small successful professional services company delivering support to North London accountancies and broking houses.

Issue

With a small number of staff and rapidly increasing support portfolio, the support company was experiencing an increase in income but was well aware they would need to stretch to accommodate further growth.

Action

Rather than increase staff count and spend time finding the right skills and bringing them up to speed we provided an ad hoc and short term contract based service where our resource pool on was hand to backup the daily team wherever required.

Result

Capacity on hand to deliver customers with the reassurance of a continued responsive service level.

Case Study 8: Compliance

Client

A large American company delivering insurance services in the US wide RV market.

Issue

The online insurance portal for the client processed a large number of credit card payments each month through the site. Due to changes in US trading laws the handling of credit card data had to be done in a far more secure fashion due to new legislation in response to increased online credit card security breaches.

Action

A thorough gap analysis was done on the platform and a proposal submitted for changes required to achieve PCI. Additionally we managed the delivery of the platform “patching” and compiled the paperwork and enlisted on going services and prerequisites for compliance.

Result

The platform successfully achieved self the required level of legal compliance and advertised the new security measure as a safety and confidence feature to their clients.
